I guess, This is Au Revoir

In every journey, we all have a common goal or destination to achieve and set in. And in every journey, we all undergo beautiful and rough challenges. A challenge is a good lesson. A lesson is a good experience. An experience is the best teacher in life.

This week in our English 2 class, we all had a major preparation for our research paper. Things are really getting busy these days. I can almost grasp the summer breeze. Last week, I was way too lazy in making my outline sentence. But now, there's something that motivates me to write. I guess everyone are getting busy as well because March is now approaching and that means, Final exams and defense are approaching too.

And, does that mean our blogging activity has to end too? Our blogging activity has to stop in the end of the month of February as what Ma'am said. This is the end of February, I guess this is it. [But our teacher said that we can continue blogging if we want to]. Blogging really makes me feel expressive. I've learned a lot of lessons from the class and through this blogging activity. I guess my voyage is not yet the end. I have to keep on going. And, I want to continue blogging in my own different account. *Thanks Ma'am for giving us this activity*.

Total Pressure!

In our English 2 class last week, we did some discussions about note-taking, quotes, summary, and paraphrase. These are processes in term paper writing to develop the topic; and, it is for us to know the correct processes to avoid plagiarism. We had seatwork (by partner) in the class, then, we had an assignment that was passed last Thursday, and lastly, we had an updated announcements for the deadlines of our term paper. Phew!* Time really do run fast. Not to mention, we are running out of time, too. We only have few days or weeks to finish our draft or our term paper. I'm really pressured because I just got home from our field trip in Nat. Sci 1. I don't know where or when to start because I feel so tired of all the busy days I have.

Activities in Store

What a week! A week loaded with activities. An activities that are team-building spirit and team-sharing knowledge. It's full of learning and enjoyment because we have to group ourselves and that means, we have to encounter people and consequently, we have to make friends with them. Working as a team is fun, it makes the work go easy. And what's more amazing is that everyone in the team can share their thoughts about the respective topic. It's amazing how people work themselves up and interact with other people. But, my group mates and I don't share the same course that's why I had a hard time when I decided to go to school early to meet up with them for our activities because no one will show up (they have classes). For that reason, I learned a very great important lesson, I should not make myself easy; I should act for it no matter what. Therefore, I should be ready or it's better late than never.

All School, No Fun?

Whew! It's been another exhausted week and midterm exam is now converging. Everyone seems pretty tied up with their hectic schedule, including me, I'm so fully loaded these past few weeks. But everything is okay, I still manage to smile after all. The coalesce feeling of tiredness and happiness makes me proud. It's a great feeling that I still balance my learning and fun, or else, I'll go crazy.

In our English 2 last Tuesday, we had a fun activity. We counted one to four and then, group ourselves to our respective numbers. I belong to group 2 and I belong to an active and a participative group mates. All of us had fun by learning to construct and arrange sources in American Psychological Association style. It's amazing our teacher do this kind of activity because it merged fun and learning at the same time.

Last Thursday, we discussed about formulating a thesis statement and what kind of thesis statement will it be; is it analytical, expository, or argumentative. Making a thesis statement should be a strong one, we should make it stand or an assertion. We are asked individually for our thesis statement and ma'am agreed on mine.

Another week had just passed again, I'm glad I had fun this week. I'm gonna save up my energy for our coming midterm exams so that I can concentrate on my lessons. ü

Double-Time!

Things are getting pretty busy these days. The last time I checked my watch was just two days ago, not to mention, time really do run fast that's why we should catch-up for it so that we will never get left behind.

"Double-time! Double-time!", as what my head jabbering in my mind. There's no word that can tell how I really feel these days. There's no room to play and kid around, not anymore. There's so much things to do that it needs to be done right away. I have lots of school requirements that were filed-up in my desk and what worst is, there are all in different subjects, on the other hand, I still have an upcoming Midterm Exam in Economics. But, I'm not a machine to do all these things in one day that's why I should double-time my work.

Speaking of which, in our English 2 last week, we discussed about the sources for our research paper on evaluating them and using them in American Psychological Association Style. It gives us some point about looking and choosing the right sources for our research paper. Looking for more sources means there's more for us to refer in our topic so that we can fully understand it. It narrows our thought by looking and by reading for more relative topic in our perspective term paper.

Reaction Essay~ MARRIAGE: Valid for 10 Years?

Marriage is a social union or legal contract between individuals that creates kingship. It is uniquely beneficial to society because it is the foundation of the family and the basic building block of society. To Catholics, marriage is a sacrament and ordained by God. A man and a woman bond as one in a holy matrimony and the Church is the witness of the union. But, what's with the marriage contract expiration? How can we maintain the essential of the marriage, if it is only valid for ten years?

The marriage expiration contract is not really the absolute solution of what the country confronted now. It will only cause disaster in our society and the essence of marriage will be lost and fade away just like a dust that blown by the wind. People will overlook it as a game and they will never take it seriously and continue to play with it. I know this a modern time but still, we should care about the tradition and value of marriage. Besides, it will imperil the integrity of the ties that bind the Philippine Society. It is like a food that reaches its expiry date and someone will throw them up. Not to mention, it will only cost how much the government needed. They are like making business out of it. People are well attentive of this term that entering into marriage is a decision and there will be lots of consequences for them to face up. The vows of the couples have exchanged should be respected and never impart an expiration to marriage.

Women will be greatly affected of this kind of proposal. There will be lots of violence in this proposal contract because men will only disregard the essence of marriage. They will set games over the relationship because they know that they can marry whoever they want after ten years and it can only bring massive population in the country. Moreover, women tend to be emotional when it comes to relationship problems.

The proposal can lead the children to emotional trauma when the parents separate after ten years. It can take them to confusion and rebellion. The children are the one who really suffer and affected in this kind of proposal. It will be so hard for the parents to explain about the separation to their kids but it will be harder for the children to accept it.

Marriage expiration should not be adopted because it can cause disaster, it will ruin the essence of marriage, it will cost lots of money to renew the marriage, it can cause massive population to the Philippines, it can cause aggression especially to the battered women, and it can lead the children to emotional trauma. A wise man, Barnett R. Brickner, once said, "Success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate, but through being the right mate."

Ready, Set, WRITE !

"The pages are still blank, but there is a miraculous feeling of the words being there, written in invisible ink and clamoring to become visible." ~Vladimir Nabakov

Things were getting better and better this week. The feeling of laziness somehow unfold. It feels great to let things a little busy but in the end of the week, it turns out to be a little bit exhausting.

Another week had just passed by. The everyday routine seems pretty usual. What made it different was that, it's time to grab a pen and a paper and get ready for more writing. We tackled about writing the essay on how we can expand it and the basic essay structure such as introduction, body, and conclusion; we tackled about reaction and research paper, too. It can help us as a guidance for our research paper and any writings in the discipline form. Since we are required to make a research paper, it gives us some tips about the research process.

Writing a research paper is a lot of hard work, it takes time and patience. It really needs a lot of interrogation so that we can prove about what we are trying to prove.

A Great Sigh

This week, we finished our discussion and we talked about our topic for our term paper. Thank God, Ma'am approved my topic but I did not put my thesis statement yet, so, she asked me to put the thesis statement before she officially approve it.

It was a load of preparation for our Prelim Exam in English 2. The test was okay, though, it was a quite time consuming because we stole some minutes to photo copied the questionnaire. I did not finish the Test IV- Essay Writing. It was so close; I would just come up with a conclusion for my composition and outline form but the time ran-out. Our proctor would extend our time for 30 minutes but some other class used the room. It was a great sigh for all of those who did not finish yet. What worst is, I did not wrote my subtopic into sentence- I saw my classmates wrote theirs in a sentence form- because it was not written in the instruction; I just followed the format in the book. I hope it's still correct.

But, everything will be just fine. A little luck and fate could help. ü

Descriptive Writing~ My Pet, Jaguar

Every 6:00 A.M. in the morning, the bark seems to awake me from my clouding dreams. I get up from bed and go outside. As I set my foot outside the door, I see the wiggling tail and tounge lolling out as if he is thirsty from barking. He is a half-Labrador and a half-Dalmatian breed of dog. The fur is shimmering in glossy black and so soft as you stroke it but he has a white fur with black spots-- which he get from his Dalmatian father-- below his jaw down to his chest that's why we named him as Jaguar because of his black-looking. Jaguar looks more like a Labrador breed of dog and has the playfulness of a Labrador. The eyes are brown: a big brown round-shaped eye. His tail is long, about 13 inches in length. The mouth is huge that he can swallow the bread (his snacks) without chewing it. Scratching his chest and belly makes him stomps his foot. Every time I go near him to play with him, he jumps, wriggles his tail, and boosts all his energy for fun. Rubbing his face and squeezing it makes me shiver of his cuteness. When I'm sitting alone in our porch as if wondering something, he approaches me and put his head in my lap as a hint of comforting.

Jaguar is more than a pet. He is a friend and a playmate that worth-keeping for. And I miss him for that.

Back-in-Business

Time flew swiftly, in fact, two weeks were too short. I could not believe it that I'm already back here in Iligan. I wanted to stay longer back home but I still have some unfinished business here in IIT: the filed-up assignments, reports, and books. *Better to start them up or everything will fall behind*

In the following meetings of English 2, we had major discussions for our Prelim Exam on January 14, 2010. We even had a make-up class so that we can tackle the lessons before the time comes. We tackled about the outlines of well-written paragraph, fragments and run-on sentences, and sensory word bin. Through learning these, it enhance my writing skills and it enables me to write more to improve it. It broadens my vocabulary and utters my thought. Consequently, it inspires me to keep a journal. I was planning to keep a journal when I was young, however, it never happened at all. But when I have time, I love to write my thoughts and experiences on a piece of paper and I hide it wherever I can from the prying eyes, and unfortunately, I end up losing it. Still, its called writing. ;)

The power of writing is amazing because it can do everything. It should not be underestimated because we'll never know what this thing can do against us. I really believe in the saying, "A pen of a scholar is mightier than a sword of a martyr".

HAPPY WEEKEND ! Üü
